1964 DOCUMENTARY FILM:THE ENDLESS SUMMERThe Endless Summer, directed by Bruce Brown, Art Director John Van Hamersveld, has gone down as THE definitive movie chronicling the International Surfing Scene as of the mid 1960's.  The film became an instant cult-classic, and memorabilia from the movie still finds a very ready market today, 44 years later. This poster is totally unique and separate from the wholesale cheap copies you see advertised here on ebay and elsewhere.  To provide a graphic picture of just how large this poster is, the photo below shows the poster, with a 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of letter paper for scale:This poster is No. 109 in a limited edition of 250 posters.  The series was produced personally by the artist, John Van Hamersveld and took five years (1994-1999) to complete.  Most of these posters were sold with no autograph.   Some were sold bearing only the autograph of John Van Hamersveld.  A VERY few were co-autographed by Bruce Brown!  This is one of those very few. There is only one flaw worthy of mention.  In the framing process, a border was placed around the matte, which is supposed to be parallel with each side and top and bottom of the matte.  The top portion has separated and begun to sag downward in a bowed arc.  You can see this in the included photos if you look carefully at the photo.  A professional framing shop can fix this in a jiffy.  Seller never did, because Seller wanted to avoid doing anything that would have affected the originality, even of the framing, which is sealed on the back by heavy paper which runs from edge to edge. For those who aren't already familiar with John Van Hamersveld, he was the inventor, over 44 years ago, of Day-Glo paint.  When Mr. Van Hamersveld was hired to be the Art Director on The Endless Summer, he conceived the poster you see here, as being a silk-screening in Day-Glo paint.Unfortunately, the printing houses back in the 1960's refused to silk-screen the posters in Day-Glo, which is an oil-based paint, preferring instead to use similar colors in water-based paint. This reproduction is the ONLY issue of Endless Summer posters that is faithful to the artist's original conception for the poster.  Mr. Van Hamersveld himself, oversaw and took part in producing the silk-screened reproductions, in original oil-base Day-Glo paint. Certificate of Authenticity, signed by BOTH Bruce Brown and John Van Hamersveld is included with the poster. In establishing a current fair market value, Seller consulted with Van Hamersveld's representatives, and contacted several art auction houses internationally.  Two art appraisers were also consulted. The last of the limited edition series was sold by the Post Art Group Gallery, in 2001, for $1,500.00, and was one of those NOT autographed by Bruce Brown, also, was not framed. The consensus is that reasonable fair market value today, should be somewhere between $5,000 and $7,500.00, for the following reasons:1.  As far as any of us could determine, this is the ONLY poster from the Limited Edition actually available for purchase anywhere in the world today;2.  The actual means of producing this limited edition series sets it totally apart from ALL other reproductions made at any time since the 1960's;3.  Endless Summer posters bearing BOTH Van Hamersveld's and Brown's autographs are exceedingly rare PERIOD.Here is one of those once-in-a-decade opportunities to own an authentic piece of both Art History and Cinema History, a museum-quality numbered reproduction from a NEVER TO BE REPEATED series. (On the Certificate of Authenticity, John Van Hamersveld stated that upon completion of the series, the silk screens were destroyed.)Given this item's absolute scarcity in the current market, and given the hundreds of thousands of potential buyers that will see this listing on ebay, Seller wants to stress to any interested party, when this poster goes, it's gone forever.  If you want it, BUY IT NOW, before someone else can beat you to the punch.  It is historic FACT, based on millenia of human civilization, that in times of economic uncertainty, people with money seek safe havens from inflation, and traditionally, one of the most favored safe havens is collectible artwork.   Personally, I would rather have a warehouse full of these, than any Wall Street investment you can name!  Think about it, especially in the context of our current economic meltdown, and likely rampant inflation just around the corner, and I'm sure you'll agree.Don't just sit there thinking "How nice it would be . . . " - TAKE ACTION and grab the opportunity this listing represents!Thank you for looking at my item, and Good luck bidding!SHIPPING:Shipping fees will include actual UPS fees for shipping, with full-value insurance.  In addition, buyer will pay a total Shipping Fee amount which will include $30.00 for handling and cost of materials.  To assure that a relatively fragile package of this size is delivered intact, in its current excellent condition, Seller feels that only a heavy-duty, high-quality shipping container and padding material will suffice.  Because shipping fees vary, based on geographic distance, no shipping estimate is shown.  To obtain a good-faith estimate of total shipping costs specific to your location, please use "Ask Seller A Question" and be sure to include your complete, correct receiving-address information.  Thank you.
