Description
This is an 8x12 photo of the Who from their historic performance at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center during the Summer of 1971. I snuck into the second row of seats to get these when the crowd rushed the stage just prior to when the Who came on, and was able to avoid being removed by the SPAC ushers (took my hair out of the pony tail so I guess I looked like a girl when he passed behind me the next time), and the rest is history. These photos captured the energy and intensity of the Who, as they performed a number of songs from Tommy, other hits, and some new material two years after Woodstock. One of the most intense concert experiences, bar none for me, and it was a thrill to capture it on film. This particular photo is one of my favorites...a dumb luck "the moment" photo that all photographers long for and I was blessed enough to get- I think it helped that I'm a musician too. I am now offering select concert photos framed in high quality black metal anodized aluminum frames. These unmatted prints are complimented nicely by the simple yet elegant black frames that highlight the subject matter of the artist without the distraction of matting. I took photos of the framed prints from an angle to avoid any extreme flash glare so the frames subsequently look somewhat obtuse. Fear not though prospective buyers, they are as rectangular as the day is long, I just wanted you to get the feel of the framed prints. As a young photographer/musician in the 1969 to 1973 time period I attended a number of rock and folk concerts by such diverse artists as the Grateful Dead, the Who, Hot Tuna, B.B. King, Joni Mitchell, Paul Butterfield, John Sebastian, Leo Kottke, Leon Redbone, John Jackson, Elizabeth Cotton, Steve Goodman, Edgar Winter, and others. The photos I took of these artists from this era are a rare peek back at a period when they were in their prime and offer a glimpse seldom if ever seen of them from a stage side vantage point that is almost impossible to duplicate in today’s mega-venue scene and restrictions on photos of any kind at most concerts. All photos but the Who are from the original negatives that have been scanned and saved as a digital file. Unfortunately I misplaced the Who negatives years ago (I am still going through all my boxes and will find them soon I hope). I had printed the Who photos and mounted them on matte board years ago, so I had the photos scanned on a high quality professional scanner and they came out quite well as digital files. All photos will be professionally printed from the digital file onto Kodak digital photo paper. Images have a narrow 1/8-inch or so white border around the picture, and are 8x10, some are 8x12, so as much of original field of the image could be preserved. Naturally, the copyright imprint you see on the sample photo will not be on the copy you receive. Once I receive your order, please allow at least a seven to ten day turnaround as I will be having the photos professionally printed as orders are received. Shipping and handling to US customers via Priority mail will be $12.00, insurance included, we are dealing with glass here so there will be no opting out on that. Larger orders will be dealt with as needed when said orders arise. Customers from Canada and all other countries will pay $25.00 Shipping and handling U.S. Postal service Air Mail. Larger orders will be dealt with as needed when said orders arise. Do you like original Blues and Roots Music? Then check out BLUES NOIR Use the FREE Counters 1 million sellers do - Vendio!
