Description
This is a 1 of a kind MOVIE MEMOROBILIA ARTIFACT: This is believed to be the 1st award given to a NATIVE OKLAHOMAN "Academy Award Lifetime Achievement" winner when she was 19 and on her way to stardom. It was given to her by World Famous Indian Scout, G. GORDON LILLIE or better known as PAWNEE BILL, who has had museums, rodeos, and holidays named for him in his NATIVE OKLAHOMA and Ft. Worth Texas. This is a rare find where 2 famous OKLAHOMANS cross paths with 2 very different backgrounds and paths of life. This is an animal skin, autographed award given to Phylis Isley by Pawnee Bill "White Chief of the Pawnee" of Oklahoma. He had a famous Wild Wild West Show that competed with and later merged with Buffalo Bill. Phyllis Isley went on to win an Academy Award in the early 40's for the "Song of Bernadette" and would later marry the famous producer David O'Selznik of "Gone With the Wind " fame under the stage name of JENNIFER JONES. The award reads: "On the 12th day of July, 1939, by authority of the Pawnee Indian Council and the Chiefs of the Skidi Band of Pawnees - Phylis Isley was inducted into the Pawnee Tribe for her distinguished accomplishments in the entertainment world, reflecting great credit upon her native state of Oklahoma and is hereby given the Indian name of "Red Star". This was found in a building in Dallas, Texas where Jennifer Jones father officed his chain of movie theatres. We contacted her son a few years ago (the actor Robert Walker Jr. who played Ensign Pulver in the 60's movie "Ensign Pulver" and he remembered this artifact quite well, hanging in his grandfathers office. It comes as is, in the unglassed frame you see. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CONTACT ME, Thanks Bill
