Description
Very Rare Collection of 23 - 28mm Pathé Kok, Movie Reels Summer Greetings, Offered in this lot is a very rare collection of 23 different 28 Movie Reels, some which have more than one title on them. These early Movie Reels, are from the era prior to the early 1920's. Here is some history from Wikapedia: 28 mm film was introduced by the Pathé Film Company in 1912 under the name Pathé Kok. Geared toward the home market, 28 mm utilized diacetate film stock rather than the flammable nitrate commonly used in 35 mm. Pathé in France and later Victor in the USA printed reduction prints (usually, although not always, abridged) of popular films for home rental, designed to be used in Pathéscope Cinematograph or Victor Animatograph projectors. By 1918, over 10,000 projectors had been sold and more than 20,000,000 feet of film printed. World War I stopped European production of 28 mm. It continued in North America until 1920 before ceasing entirely. Shortly after, 9.5 mm and 16 mm would take the amateur film gauge role 28 mm had once filled. Technical Specifications ; 20.5 frames per foot (14 mm per frame) vertical pulldown 1.36:1 aspect ratio 3 perforation on both sides per frame (US and Canada) 3 perforation on the left and 1 on the right per frame (Europe) All reels are original steel, with some having their original paper labels, with titles written in old style ink penmanship. Film stock itself is in very good useable condition, despite it's age, It appears they were stored properly, and taken very well care of over the years. Some reels are missing their title sections, and you can see, that those missing the title portions, just start somewhere at the beginning. I took a few pictures of some frames to give you an idea, of what they look like. These are the movies your great grandparents or grandparents might have seen. There is even a 1912 Edison release here, doubt any are lost titles. Bid to win this once in a lifetime opportunity. The various titles are as follows; I spelled them just as they appear on the newer labels on each package. # 1 - THE EMPTY CRADLE # 2 - NARA - PARK OF THE SCARED MINE / FORESTRY IN AUSTRALIA # 3 - A THRILLING RESCUE # 4 - EXCENTRIC GYMNASTS / TRAINED ELEPHANTS # 5 - KIND HEARTED CONSTABLE / UNCATCHABLE THIEF-(BICYCLE THIEF) # 6 - INSECT MIMICS # 7 - THE GYPSIES / THE CAIMUNS # 8 - CANINE SMUGGLERS / ACROSS TOURAINE # 9 - LITTLE MAURICE EMPEROR OF THE BUNATOPOFFS # 10 - PLAYER TIME AT THE GREAT MOSQUE (DELPHI INDIA) / RICE HARVEST IN JAPAN # 11 - WINEMAKING ( CHAMPAGNE) # 12 - EXCURSION IN THE FOREST OF FOUNTAIN BLEU / TEAGARDENING & PREPARATION # 13 - ABSALOM # 14 - PIEROT'S HALLUCINATION # 15 - FRENCH HEADDRESSES / INDESCREET LORGNEHE CTEIESCOPE? # 16 - MODERN DORESY PAULOWN GAUOTTE AT RECTORS? # 17 - MOTHERS CHRISTMAS DAY # 18 - NICK CUINRER ON THE TRACK # 19 - LITTLE MAURICE MARINES ROSALIE? # 20 - CHRO TRUCES / JAPANESE WEDDING # 21 - A LETTER TO DADDY PART 2 A - 489 C (in original Pathescope Co.
