Label removed from issue The “FZ” Collection consists of opera memorabilia gathered by one of my closest friends over almost 50 years of opera-going. We met at Korvette’s in 1963 at one of the Monday/Tuesday Opera LP sales they used to have and have been friends ever since. “FZ” (not the real initials) frequented stage doors, dressing rooms, Lincoln Center auctions and other venues (as well as using, successfully, mail to artists requesting signing) to achieve a collection the scope of which (when I finally began going through his files with him) surprised even me. He has decided to begin the process of divesting himself of this collection and has asked me to begin selling it for him. The current selection is the beginning of what’s going to be a long journey for him and for me as we go over many of our good (and, of course, not so good) opera times together.
