MACDONALD CAREY Best Actor Award DAYS OF OUR LIVES 1965   Description 1965 TV Radio Mirror Award to Macdonald Carey of Days of Our Lives for Best Male Star on Daytime TV, etched brass plaque below a round TV Radio Mirror Magazine Award medallion, both attached to a six-sided wood base, about 10 by 12 inches at its longest and widest, in near excellent condition (there are a few minor scratches at the base of the brass plaque and the wood base).   The inscription on the plaque indicates that this award was “voted by the TV Radio Mirror nationwide panel of television critics, columnists, and reporters.”  If you are not familiar with TV Radio Mirror it was a very popular magazine similar to TV Guide that began in the early days of radio.  Because Days of Our Lives began its life as a soap opera in 1965, it is clear that this award given to Macdonald Carey for his work in the first year signified its initial acceptance by both TV viewers and critics.  The plaque comes from a Los Angeles prop house that acquired many of the effects from the Carey estate after he passed away.  Please see my other eBay auctions for the 1967-1968 Emmy Nomination Plaque Macdonald Carey received for Outstanding Individual Performance in Daytime Programming for his acting in Days of Our Lives.  Very scarce early TV award.
