Description
Up for auction is an ORIGINAL PRESSBOOK for the 1953 film " HOW TO MARRY A MILLIONAIRE"  starring MARILYN MONROE, BETTY GRABLE, and LAUREN BACALL. This was a 20th CENTURY FOX film, and one of the first to be shot in CINEMASCOPE. The pressbook is---18"x14" in size. It's in great shape!  Has no bends, missing pages, cuts, or writing. Killer piece. It is complete at 29 pages, including front and back covers. Also comes with the original 4-page ad supplement that was included with these EXHIBITOR'S CAMPAIGN BOOKS.  Sorry for glare... it's due to my photo taking, not any flaws on the items themselves.  As for the condition---I would rate it (usually I underate) as VG+/EX-. GREAT! There is a 2.5 inch rip of the front cover on top along the spine. Sorry to let this go but necessity dictates!. Facts about the film: On the plane, Pola is reading a book called "Murder By Strangulation" which is how Marilyn Monroe's character met her demise in Niagara (1953)This is 20th Century Fox's first CinemaScope feature, however it wasn't released until after The Robe (1953).In one scene the three women are talking to each other about who they would like to marry. Marilyn Monroe's character says she wouldn't mind marring Mr. Cadillac. Lauren Bacall's character replies "No such person, I checked". There was a Mr. Cadillac. He was the French governor of Canada (founded the city of Detroit and in 1710 was named the governor of Louisiana). The Cadillac was named for him and his surname lives on in the form of his descendants.During filming, Betty Grable informed the studio head of Twentieth Century-Fox, Darryl F. Zanuck, that she would not commit to the remaining five years of her contract. Miss Grable then was "punished" by being demoted to second billing below Marilyn Monroe. Returning only once to Fox, Betty would star in the unspectacular How to Be Very, Very Popular (1955), a vehicle in which Marilyn had refused to appear. The censors would not allow Marilyn Monroe to say "Men don't make passes at girls who wear glasses". It was changed to "Men are seldom attentive to girls who wear glasses". This week is MARILYN MONROE liquidation week here at Tevar's, we have 7 nice pieces of hers up for auction so have a look! There are many more pieces like this upcoming from the vault so keep checking my auctions! Shipping for this item is $11.00, Overseas winner must pay for Express Mail and insurance as I have had problems with overseas mail being lost so all non-US buyers keep that in mind, and payment is due within 7 days after close of auction. Note: If the high bidder does not choose insurance we are not responsible for what happens after it is given to the Post Office. No refunds or exchanges will be given for lost or damaged items if no insurance or tracking #'s are not purchased. Thanks for looking!
