In 1999, The American Film Institute named Bogart the greatest male star of all time. The United States post office issued in his honor a stamp with his image. The Humphrey Bogart owned sterling silver match case is hallmarked sterling and with a manufacture hallmark as well. It is a small square shaped case with the middle front part having Bogart's initials, H.B. In excellent condition, measuring about 1 3/4 inches in length. It is an older vintage piece, circa 1930s - 1940s.  Provenance on the Bogart-owned item: I knew a good friend of Humphrey Bogart, who worked with him on his last film, "The Harder They Fall." His name was Rod Steiger, and he was also an Academy Award winning actor like Bogart. I obtained this match case directly from Steiger; it had been given to him by Bogart with some other items during the filming. A detailed letter of documentation will be supplied and a copy of one of my interviews with Rod Steiger. As a professional journalist for over thirty years, I knew and interviewed many famous people, including Steiger, who once lived near by home.
