Description
jondb500 Store HOWARD HUGHES SIGNED SPRUCE GOOSE PHOTO POSTER SIGNED BY HOWARD HUGHES AND INSCRIBED TO THE CAL LAB! This is a photo of the Howard Hughes HERCULES, AKA SPRUCE GOOSE that Howard Hughes has signed to "To Scott & the acl lab, Don't know how we could have done it without you guys! Good luck in the future and I promise to pay back that $1.37 as soon as the "Goose" flies cross-country. By the way, is it true what they say that calibration techs do it with repeatablility? Keep me posted. Howard Hughes". Extremely rare to find anything signed by Hughes directly related to the Spuce Goose.  11" X 14", black and white printing on thin paper.  Condition:  Very Good.   Numerous small, light wrinkles, some small chipping and small tears on the edges.  Signature: 10/10 Note on signature:  How do you know it's real?  #1 The Hughes signature has made a deep impression on and through the paper. the inscription has as well.  #2 A poster was produced of a different photo of the Goose, and different inscription.  This one was to Elai J. Gimar.  Same handwriting.  Other than photo of Howard signing photo,  I don't know if you could have better proof that this is real.  I have included photo of a reproduction poster (images 3, 4, 5).  I have studied Hughes signature and writing through pieces I have had pass through my hands, and the many excellent bios (Citizen Hughes) and other sources that show Hughes' handwriting.  This is definitely it.  Hughes writing in this era was sharper than his later years.  In the 1960's and 70's it became a bit larger and looser.    Most of the pieces that have become available, are from his later years.    It is still sharp, as seen in photo.  Also, a signature is much simpler to forge than a lengthy inscription.  The inscription is the same style through out passage. Many auction houses sell simple signed documents, without much intesting content for thousands of dollars.  One is for sale right now at $7,500.00 through Gotta Have It.
