Description
New Arrivals All Auctions Rare Book Auctions Original Poster Auctions Title: The Omen [Original Screenplay titled "Birthmark"]. Author: SELTZER, David. Studio: Twentieth Century-Fox Script Dated: September 8, 1975 Edition: First edition An original screenplay by David Seltzer. Noted on the title page as "Revised" and dated September 8, 1975. Belonged to and SIGNED on the title page by English actor Patrick Troughton (Father Brennan). Title page and interior pages [numbered [1]-124] are "eye rest" green and measure 8.5" x 11" in size. They are two-hole punched and bound with metal pins in dark blue, heavy stock paper covers with a die-cut window in front revealing title inside. The script is titled "Birthmark" on the title page, which was the working title for the script during filming in the U.K., and as such is very scarce. Although the movie began production under this title, it was changed to "The Omen" prior to its June, 1976 release in U.S. theaters. This script belonged to actor Patrick G. Troughton, who played Father Brennan in the film (known as Father Tassone in the novel), the Priest who is impaled by a lightning rod in one of the film's most horrifying scenes. He has SIGNED his name lightly in pencil above the title on the title page. His part is marked with pen and pencil on the numerous pages where it appears, with three altered lines of dialogue written by hand. The famous English actor, Troughton, was most famous for his stint as Doctor Who on the classic BBC television series from 1966-1969. He died in 1987 at the age of sixty-seven. The script was printed in England, where it was partially shot, along with other locations in Europe. Released by Twentieth Cenutry-Fox in 1976, "The Omen" was directed by Richard Donner and produced by Harvey Bernhard. It starred Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, Harvey Stephens, David Warner, Billie Whitelaw, Patrick Troughton, Leo McKern and Martin Benson. The film spawned two sequels. In very nice condition overall with only minor wear, and the upper right corner of a single page torn away. Copy number has been written in upper right corner of title page.
