Description
Black Sabbath first UK tour (1971) original program cover art Signed original 30" x 14" air brush artwork This is the original hand air brush (gouche on line art) artwork used to print the program cover for the first ever Black Sabbath UK tour in early 1971. It is 30" by 14" on heavy card stock and is in perfect original condition as it underwent a minor restoration by the original artist a short while ago. A CD of the entire program is included with the art but a nice compliment piece would be the actual program. These surface from time to time on EBay at around $150 to $200. The artwork is signed by legendary pop designer, Mark Hanau. Selected pages from the program. A high resolution CD disc of the entire program will be included. ABOUT THE ARTIST Mark Hanau was one of the most famous rock artists and photographers of the period. He created art for Black Sabbath, Yes, Curved Air, UFO, Kiss, Iron Butterfly, Sid Vicious, Galt McDermot (Hair) and Timothy Leary among many others. He is also known as the 'father of the picture disc' for introducing the first rock picture disc in 1971 and developing the Han-O-Disc process. Mark also managed Curved Air (who were special guests on this tour), Saturnalia, UFO and assisted Shelly Turner set up the original Paul McCartney Productions. His awards include the best sleeve art of the year award from New Musical Express, The Camera Award and later he gained a record breaking nine nominations in the Hollywood Reporter Key Art awards for his movie poster design and photography. Conservative estimate of current value $25,000
