Description
BOBBY McCLURE -- Zinc woodblock for Letterpress Posters Bobby McClure photo engraving from Tribune Showprint Metal on woodblock photo engraving for poster reproduction from Tribune Showprint, the 130-year old letterpress shop legendary for their boxing style posters for rock and blues shows. This is the block that was used to print posters for HIS shows. Nice condition, but may have dust, etc. THE COLORS IN THE IMAGES ARE NOT QUITE ACCURATE. Some dings & scratches. Size: 5.75” x 7.5”. Bobby McClure, born in Chicago in 1942, moved to St. Louis where he later sang with some of the area’s best-known gospel groups including the Soul Stirrers (with Sam Cooke). Later he sang R&B and doo wop with Bobby and the Vocals, drummer Big Daddy Jenkins and Oliver Sain. McClure also worked with singers Shirley Brown and Fontella Bass with whom he recorded a duet, “Don’t Mess Up a Good Thing”—a Top 40 hit in 1965. In Chicago in the 1960s he worked with both Otis Clay and Little Milton. He recorded some singles for the Memphis-based Hi label. I accept PayPal, money orders or personal checks.
