This is Australian artist Martin Sharp’s stunning portrait of Bob Dylan known as “Blowing In The Mind” or “Mister Tambourine Man”. This is rightly considered Martin Sharp’s masterpiece. Even the world’s greatest museum of art and design, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, hold a copy in their permanent collection. It was produced while Sharp was living in London between 1965-1969. During these years Sharp also created dazzling designs for Donovan, Jimi Hendrix and Cream. The Dylan poster is a complex multi-stencil design in red and black inks screen-printed on gold foil paper, the design featuring multiple radiating circular motifs with two portraits of Bob Dylan, the large central frontal profile with reflecting dark glasses and caption 'Blowing in the Mind', the smaller side profile placed in front of an entwined 'Mister Tambourine Man'. Lyrics from various Dylan songs are written within letters and circles. It’s a guaranteed first printing and measures 19 7/8 x 29 7/8 inches (50.6 x 86.0 cm). As stunningly beautiful as this copy is, it is not without flaws. There are tack holes and tape marks in each corner and also some handling wear at the top and bottom. When professionally framed, however, these minor flaws will NOT be visible and the poster would display in near excellent condition.
