This piece is made of wood with photographs mounted on a heavy paper board backing with hand painted letters. It measures 65" tall by 38" wide and was half of an advertising sign that would have stood on the sidewalk or street the day of the show. There is a hinge on the back where it originally would attach to another identical sized piece with different pictures and would open into a self standing sign or fold down for storage/travel. There is a plate (possibly brass) painted over in green on one of the legs that's marked "Made In The Shops Of I.M. FRIEDMAN (can't make out the street address) CHICAGO". I purchased this about 5 years ago from the approximately 90 year old daughter of one of the actresses in the stock company. She claimed the sign was from around 1900 to 1908. This is an extremely rare piece of early American Theater and makes an excellent museum worthy statement/conversation piece. I can't even imagine the value of this but will start the bidding at $499.
