This is one of the most beautiful guitars on the planet. The back and sides are made of gorgeous figured Madagascar Rosewood. This particular guitar has a private stock Figured Madagascar back and sides with an Epic Face Showing in the wood grain on the back. Granted, it is not exactly the Virgin Mary Eating a Grill Cheese Sandwich, but it does look kinda like WillieNelson on TaxDay!!!! We have these guitars with normal Madagascar back and sides for much less if you are not into gorgeous wood design. However, this one has the most beautiful grain of any Madagascar we have ever seen. This is one of those guitars where it all just came together. The feel is magic and light yet the sound is like a thousand piece orchestra at your fingertips. There are times when all the woods and all the glues and the highly skilled luthier’s work come together just right to make an instrument that is something super special. This is one of those instances. If cheap is what you are about, this guitar is not for you. We have this model of Martin that sounds good and is a great guitar but this particular piece that we call the Epic Face Guitar is a super special guitar. This full bodied dreadnought guitar has superb low end and crisp highs. It plays smooth, fast and easy. The Ebony fingerboard is smooth and very well dressed and really easy to play. The back and sides are made from Solid Figured Madagascar Rosewood which has such a great look and sound. Madagascar Rosewood tends to have a better bass response and give you that Low End that Martin is known for except this one is on steroids. It is topped off with a sweet sounding Adirondack Spruce Top. This guitar is what Martin calls the Marquis Series because it carries on many of the traditional style appointments that were used before World War II. Such as Herringbone Inlay on the top as well as the 30’s style modified V neck profile. It’s got scalloped spruce Golden Era Bracing, and Fossilized Ivory for the Nut and the Saddle. The classic vintage look of this beautiful Martin is topped off with a classic tortoise color pick guard and The Golden Era Style Logo on the headstock. We’ve had thousands of guitars come in and out our store over the years but none have played as well as this series. This pristine guitar sounds like a guitar that has been aged for years but it was built earlier this year and has been used less than one hour. It is spotless and exactly like new.
