Description
This is an amazing opportunity to own an official banner that was displayed at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.  There were only about 12 displayed on the street poles in front of the Palais of the 61st Festival de Cannes.  I happened to be leaving a restuarant late the evening after the last day of the festival and the crew that was taking down the banners from a truck mounted crane gave me this banner after much persausion.  This is a huge outdoor banner over 8 feet tall (105" x 31") is truly a one of a kind souvenier.  I can almost guarantee that you will not know anyone else who has one of these.  In the photos there are 2 that are of Anouck Margueritte who posed for the official banner and poster of the 61st Festival de Cannes (she is displaying the official poster which is not included in the auction), there is one which is from across the street of the Palais and from the others you can see the banner in the background on the street poles.  The banner is two sided and you can see an image of both sides from the first two photos.  This would be incredible displayed in a home theater or in an office! Below there is information about the official poster and also general information about the Cannes Film Festival The Mystery of the Poster, Revealed The identity of the performer who posed for David Lynch's 61st Festival de Cannes poster was revealed today. She is Anouck Margueritte, a professional dancer, who currently officiates at the Crazy Horse cabaret in Paris, under the name Nooka Karamel. The Crazy Horse is world famous for its floor shows, based on the interplay of shadow, light, and body choreography.     The Poster of the 61st Festival of Cannes The poster for the 61st Cannes Festival is a photo by David Lynch, adapted by Pierre Collier, a specialist in film-poster graphics since 1986. It is the theme of the visual signifiers that are guiding festival attendees through the world of this 61st event: the graphic identity is repeated with variations on all the Festival's official publications, and is a motive in this year's decoration of the Palais des Festivals."Reception / Projection… an instant of suspense... bathed in sensuality. A platinum blond suggestion that Norma Jean hovers nearby. Ruby-red lips, offered as an attentive echo of the anthracite mask/screen... awaiting a revelation? Something magical? Cinema?" mused Pierre Collier, poster designer for La Belle Noiseuse by Jacques Rivette, The Eel by Shohei Imamura, Bowling for Columbine by Michael Moore, The Wind that Shakes the Barley by Ken Loach, Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud, and, most recently, La Graine et le Mulet by Abdellatif Kechiche.   WHO ARE WE The Festival de Cannes is the most important film event in the world, with more than 4,000 journalists among the 30,000 acreditees, representing the entire spectrum of the motion-picture industry. The Festival de Cannes reflects the dual nature of cinema at the crossroads of art and industry, and favours both cinema revelations and professional encounters. For if the Festival principally evokes the surprise of  the Selection and the expectation of the final awards, it is equally the privileged rendezvous of all motion-picture industry professionals who attend its Marche du Film. The Festival, moreover, develops actions in support of cinematic creation throughout the world. Twenty years after having created the Caméra d'Or, the prize awarded to the best first film, all selections combined, the Festival created in 1998 the Cinéfondation to accompany young filmmakers along the various stages of their creative careers, from their projects to the making of their films. The role of the Festival de Cannes has thus grown rich over the course of the years to the rhythm of the evolution of cinema itself: selecting and promoting films and artists, welcoming professionals, implementing new sets of dynamics in support of creation... in a word, serving the cinema in all its dimensions.
