Description
Here is a chance to own a cool piece of rock and roll history, previously owned by The Grateful Dead. This is a rare 1984 Chevy 1 ton 4x4 van, converted to 4x4 by Pathfinder, a shop no longer in business out of City of Industry, in southern Cal. The van has a rich history as a member of the Dead Family. The van was used by the Dead to run errands, haul the bass equipment, and for after concert parties, etc. The van spent most of it's life with The Dead. I bought the van from Bill Candlerio in 2005. Bill " Kidd " Candlerio, started working for The Dead in 1967, he was 16 years old, hence the nickname, and continued with them until they disband in 1995, 28 years later. The van did ten years of service directly for The Dead. It was at every local concert. Bill bought the van from The Dead in 1995, and used it for his own purposes til 2005. I bought it from Bill and restored it. I made a few upgrades for my own personal use. The van was strictly a cargo van with no interior, and a good for the day stereo. I insulated the entire interior then installed a complete plush blue diamond tuck fabric and upholstery interior, and head liner package. Also new black wall to wall carpet. For my purposes I also installed two 6 foot x 2.5 x 2 foot lay down storage boxes that also serve as beds. The stereo cd player is a new 800 watt package from Sony, with 6 speakers. Two 6x9s in the doors, two 6,5s in the middle overhead, and two tens in the rear doors. Sounds good!!! The running gear is all good and solid When I bought it, the van had 95,000 miles on it, the van now has 104,000 miles. The van runs and drives well. It is fun to drive, has a lot of character, and everybody likes it. It is very clean inside and out, and in very nice condition. For my purposes I also installed a 2000 watt inverter, and cruise control. The tires 33 x 12.5 x 16 are like new baja claws, aggressive but not noisy. The van is being sold as is. It has the original engine and transmission. I have the official DMV documents to verify prior ownership by The Grateful Dead. It is the real thing, there is only one!! By the way the " Kidd " said he likes the van better this way. The van can be seen by appointment, call 707 838 2667, ask for John.
