Description
BEN-HUR was certainly one of the greatest movie spectacles ever made and the only religious epic that did not also pander to flesh or fury. William Wyler modernized the 1926 Metro film and Charlton Heston exercised his considerable skill as a larger than life actor to carry the picture. There were over 300 different sets used in the film taken from over 15,000 sketches and covering 340 acres. 200 giant statues were sculptured. The arena used in the famous chariot race took up 18 acres and was filled with 8,000 extras and 40,000 tons of sand. The arena took over a thousand workers over a year to build. In all, over 50,000 people were involved in the making of the epic. Nominated for more Oscars than any other movie up to that time, BEN-HUR took home eleven Oscars-- Best Picture, Best Director to William Wyler, Best Actor to Charlton Heston, Best Supporting Actor to Hugh Griffith among others. This roadshow first-edition 6 sheet is in excellent condition but not linen backed. The poster will impart to any home theater setting some of the excitement that attended seeing the film in its original roadshow CAMERA 65 release. MovieArt has assist you in making a recommendation for linen backing. MovieArt has over 20,000 posters now in stock. We also broker posters from our considerable base of clients.
